Waiting on Wednesday #7

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly blog occurrence hosted by Breaking the Spine and showcases anticipated releases.

I haven't done one of these in FOREVER so it's about time I liven up the blog and do WoW more often.

This week's WoW is from an author whose 2012 debut basically took the YA reading/blogging sphere by storm and added Jase Garrett to every girl's list of amazing book boyfriends. You guessed it (well I hope you did)...

Release Date: April 15th 2014
Publisher: Dial Books for Young Readers

Synopsis: "From the author of My Life Next Door comes a swoony summertime romance full of expectation and regret, humor and hard questions.

Gwen Castle's Biggest Mistake Ever, Cassidy Somers, is slumming it as a yard boy on her Nantucket-esque island this summer. He's a rich kid from across the bridge in Stony Bay, and she hails from a family of fishermen and housecleaners who keep the island's summer people happy. Gwen worries a life of cleaning houses will be her fate too, but just when it looks like she'll never escape her past—or the island—Gwen's dad gives her some shocking advice. Sparks fly and secret histories unspool as Gwen spends a gorgeous, restless summer struggling to resolve what she thought was true—about the place she lives, the people she loves, and even herself—with what really is.

A magnetic, push-me-pull-me romance with depth, this is for fans of Sarah Dessen, Jenny Han, and Deb Caletti."

I am so excited for WITWW because Huntley's writing is lovely and her contemporary style and plots are so well thought out - also, this sounds like another perfect summer read!

Waiting on Wednesday #6

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly blog occurrence hosted by Breaking the Spine and showcases anticipated releases.

It's quite rare that I would eagerly wait a self-published book, but this week's WoW is for a book by a fellow book blogger. She's an absolutely lovely person and ever since she announced she was going to write a book and get it out there I've been eagerly awaiting it. It has a cover now and the release is only a month away. A month's wait until...

Release Date: October 29th 2013
Publisher: Self-published

Synopsis: "One hundred and fifty years ago, Earth was destroyed, and the remaining humans fled to the dusty red planet of Jutaire, where the only oxygen is manufactured, food is scarce, and death strikes often.
When Lissa's father discovers Earth still exists, she accidentally inhales the toxic air of Jutaire, and in one breath, discovers she isn't quite human.

Her father hangs for his discovery, and Lissa knows the Chancellors will come for her, for she saw the Earth that night too. With nothing to lose, she sets out to expose the truth. It isn't long before she meets Julian, a beautiful boy who can breathe the toxic air like she can - and shows her that the Jute, the original inhabitants of the planet, are more tangled in their lives than she knows.

But the Chancellors are only pawns in a greater game - one where the Jute control everything. Worse, the Jute plan to leave Jutaire for Earth, but to get there, they need her. And they'll stop at nothing until Lissa is in their clutches, even if they kill every human in the process.

The race for Earth has begun."

Gahhhh how gorgeous is that cover? And that synopsis ohmygoodness, it sounds so exciting and thrilling and I'm just so excited for Unbreathable!

Waiting on Wednesday #5

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly blog occurrence hosted by Breaking the Spine and showcases anticipated releases.

This week's WoW is a debut I've been eagerly anticipating since last year. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the cover and am so jealous of those people that got ARCs from BEA. Also, one of the authors is Aussie!

These Broken Stars (Starbound #1) by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner

These Broken Stars (Starbound, #1)

Release Date: December 10th 2013

Goodreads synopsis: "It's a night like any other on board the Icarus. Then, catastrophe strikes: the massive luxury spaceliner is yanked out of hyperspace and plummets into the nearest planet. Lilac LaRoux and Tarver Merendsen survive. And they seem to be alone.

Lilac is the daughter of the richest man in the universe. Tarver comes from nothing, a young war hero who learned long ago that girls like Lilac are more trouble than they’re worth. But with only each other to rely on, Lilac and Tarver must work together, making a tortuous journey across the eerie, deserted terrain to seek help.

Then, against all odds, Lilac and Tarver find a strange blessing in the tragedy that has thrown them into each other’s arms. Without the hope of a future together in their own world, they begin to wonder—would they be better off staying here forever?

Everything changes when they uncover the truth behind the chilling whispers that haunt their every step. Lilac and Tarver may find a way off this planet. But they won’t be the same people who landed on it.

Waiting on Wednesday #4

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly blog occurrence hosted by Breaking the Spine and showcases anticipated releases.

This week's WoW is a sequel to a book I really loved. And when I say loved I mean it's on my "not-enough-stars" shelf. The first book was like no other I've ever read and I was just so amazed at the brilliance of it I couldn't believe The Collector was only a debut. At the time I'd read The Collector it had only just been released so I've been jumping around like I have ants in my pants waiting for August to approach.

The Liberator (Dante Walker, #2)

Release Date: August 27th 2013
Publisher: Entangled Teen

Goodreads synopsis: "Bad boy, meet bad girl.

Dante has a shiny new cuff wrapped around his ankle, and he doesn't like that mess one bit. His new accessory comes straight from Big Guy himself and marks the former demon as a liberator. Despite his gritty past and bad boy ways, Dante Walker has been granted a second chance.

When Dante is given his first mission as a liberator to save the soul of seventeen-year-old Aspen, he knows he’s got this. But Aspen reminds him of the rebellious life he used to live and is making it difficult to resist sinful temptations. Though Dante is committed to living clean for his girlfriend Charlie, this dude’s been a playboy for far too long…and old demons die hard.

With Charlie becoming the girl she was never able to be pre-makeover and Aspen showing him how delicious it feels to embrace his inner beast, Dante will have to go somewhere he never thought he’d return to in order to accomplish the impossible: save the girl he’s been assigned to, and keep the girl he loves."

Waiting on Wednesday #3

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly blog occurrence hosted by Breaking the Spine and showcases anticipated releases.

I actually haven't done WoW in a while as I've been swamped with work and Internet problems (it's FINALLY getting fixed this weekend!!!)

But with the ARCs for this upcoming book having gone out, the blog tour stops announced and book 3 of the series being one of my top 2 favourite books of 2012, I thought I HAD to do a WoW for...

Release Date: April 9th 2013
Publisher: Spencer Hill Press

Goodreads synopsis: "Fate isn’t something to mess with… and now, neither is Alex.
Alex has always feared two things: losing herself in the Awakening and being placed on the Elixir. But love has always been stronger than Fate, and Aiden St. Delphi is willing to make war on the gods—and Alex herself—to bring her back.

The gods have killed thousands and could destroy entire cities in their quest to stop Seth from taking Alex’s power and becoming the all-powerful God Killer. But breaking Alex’s connection to Seth isn’t the only problem. There are a few pesky little loopholes in the whole “an Apollyon can’t be killed” theory, and the only person who might know how to stop the destruction has been dead for centuries.

Finding their way past the barriers that guard the Underworld, searching for one soul among countless millions, and then somehow returning will be hard enough. Alex might be able to keep Seth from becoming the God Killer… or she might become the God Killer herself."

I was also re-reading chapter 22 of Deity (YES IT'S MY FAVOURITE CHAPTER, IF YOU'VE READ IT YOU KNOW WHY) last night and UNFFFFFF Aiden St. Delphi <3 if you haven't checked out the Covenant series yet... WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

Waiting on Wednesday #2

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly blog occurrence hosted by Breaking the Spine and showcases anticipated releases.

Eeeeeep I’m over a day late posting this I’m so sorry guys (10pm in Sydney right now :/)!
I went to sleep at 8pm last night – got home at 6.30pm, had dinner at 7pm, took a shower then went straight to bed. I’d been living off 4-5h sleep Sunday – Tuesday night as work started on Monday. Yup new job! Getting back into the work life is so different haha and I barely have time to get onto the computer at home. BUT HERE I AM ;D

My WoW this week is the sequel to the much loved Shatter Me:

Unravel Me (Shatter Me, #2)

Release Date: 5th February 2013
Publisher: HarperCollins

Goodreads synopsis: “tick, tick, tick, tick, tick
it's almost
time for war.
Juliette has escaped to Omega Point. It is a place for people like her—people with gifts—and it is also the headquarters of the rebel resistance.
She's finally free from The Reestablishment, free from their plan to use her as a weapon, and free to love Adam. But Juliette will never be free from her lethal touch.
Or from Warner, who wants Juliette more than she ever thought possible.
In this exhilarating sequel to Shatter Me, Juliette has to make life-changing decisions between what she wants and what she thinks is right. Decisions that might involve choosing between her heart—and Adam's life.”

I’m so jealous of all the people that have ARCs and have read them. Apparently Warner is amazing in this. I already had a soft spot for him in Shatter Me, so who knows, maybe after Unravel Me I’ll be Team Warner :D

ALSO, SO HELP ME GOD THE AUSTRALIAN COVER IS ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. I DEMAND THE US COVER.

SUFFER. YOUR EYES WILL BLEED -
Unravel Me (The Juliette Chronicles, #2)

The book I’m eagerly anticipating this week is non-other than:

Boundless (Unearthly, #3)

Release Date: 22nd January in US/1st February in Australia
Publisher: HarperCollins

Goodreads synopsis: “The past few years have held more surprises than part-angel Clara Gardner could ever have anticipated. Yet from the dizzying highs of first love, to the agonizing low of losing someone close to her, the one thing she can no longer deny is that she was never meant to live a normal life.
Since discovering the special role she plays among the other angel-bloods, Clara has been determined to protect Tucker Avery from the evil that follows her . . . even if it means breaking both their hearts. Leaving town seems like the best option, so she’s headed back to California - and so is Christian Prescott, the irresistible boy from the vision that started her on this journey in the first place.
As Clara makes her way in a world that is frighteningly new, she discovers that the fallen angel who attacked her is watching her every move. And he’s not the only one. . . . With the battle against the Black Wings looming, Clara knows she must finally fulfil her destiny. But it won’t come without sacrifices and betrayal.
In the riveting finale of the Unearthly series, Clara must decide her fate once and for all.”

As the final installment for this trilogy unfolds, what awaits Clara and her destiny? And who will come out on victorious?

Gah I'm absolutely in love with the Aussie covers *strokes lovingly*

Also, TEAM TUCKER OR TEAM CHRISTIAN GUISE? I’m definitely Team Tucker J

What are you waiting on this week?
