The Feature & Follow hop is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. The aim is for book bloggers to meet other book bloggers and garner followers :D
So I think it's the 166th actual Feature & Follow but it's only the 3rd one for me - I hope that explains the post title :D
And eeeep this week I'm the featured blogger yay :DDD
This week's question:
It is up to you to do a Kickstarter campaign for your favourite book!!! Who are you casting for the main characters?
Woahhhhh this is a really hard one. I have so many favourite books and taking a real person (even if they are a really good actor/actress) and making them fit into the mold of a much-loved character I've created in my mind is really hard to do - the film version isn't how they're always pictured and expectations not necessarily met. But here goes...
I'm going to choose Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas because Crown of Midnight (the sequel) is thus far my favourite book of 2013.
Main characters -
Celaena Sardothien
Celaena Sardothien: I would pick Jemima West as Celaena. After seeing her play Isabelle Lightwood in City of Bones I know she can be so badass and would pull off the assassin role nicely! She's also extremely pretty and her elvin features really make me think of Celaena.
Chaol Westfall
Chaol Westfall: even though he's not a actor, model Sean O'Pry is so smoking hot I envision him for quite a lot of male MCs. Chaol Westfall is definitely one of them. He's got the slightly rugged look that would fit Chaol's Captain of the Guard image, but also underneath, a refined edge that would be Chaol's aristocratic lineage.
Dorian Havilliard
Dorian Havilliard: I'm thinking Chase Crawford because he's got that playful nature that Dorian has - I always see the kiddish side of Dorian that hasn't quite grown up yet. But Chase can also pull off the princely/regal look *nods*
Ok yup I think that would be my dream cast for Throne of Glass :D
What would be your favourite book > movie dream cast?

ReplyDeleteOhmygoodness you MUST check out Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas, it's her 2012 debut and it's fantasy and SO GOOOOOOD. The sequel CoM is just spiffing amazing.

DeleteI think you should definitely move ToG UPPPPP to the top of your TBR list *grins*
Love your answer. You put a lot of thought into it! I love your header too, is that your own personal book collection?
ReplyDelete-Brenda from Daily Mayo!
Thank you Brenda :D it's taken me ages to think of who I wanted as Celaena because I keep picturing the girl on the UK/Aus covers but she's a tad scary and not as pretty as Maas described. So when I saw Jemima West in CoB I was like WOAH so badass and then I looked up more pics and she's naturally blonde (I think) and I was like omgggg Celaena <3
DeleteEeeeep *hugs* thanks yes that's my own personal book collection and those are my favourites - which I need to update with some latest favourites :3
Hopping through. Thanks for being the feature! Throne of Glass is a great book. It'd make an interesting movie.

YAY YOU SHOULD TOTALLY READ IT BECAUSE ONCE YOU DO YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO STOP. So it's a good thing you have Crown of Midnight too (by books I assume you mean that you own both #1 and #2).

Thank you :D You should definitely check it out!
DeleteJemima West! Not the first person I would think about, but seeing her pictures, I can imagine her being Celaena :D Chaol isn't really how I imagine him, but Dorian looks great. Congrats on being featured!
ReplyDeleteFF - Mel@thedailyprophecy.

Hrmmm I was trying to think of an actor who's ruggedly handsome and slightly broody but on the young side for Chaol and couldn't come up with anybody! Sean O'Pry was the closest in age that I could find (he's 24 and Chaol's just turned 23 in Crown of Midnight :o)
DeleteThanks for stopping by :D
Congrats on the feature! I love the Throne of Glass series... Chase is a great choice for Dorian....

DeleteNice lookin cast! Chase goes with any movie ;-) I made the jump and casted my favorite book series! Check it out The Book Cove
ReplyDeleteThank you! I think Chase does the playful guy very well. My friend and I had this argument about him being able to play Adrian Ivashkov - she reckons he can, I was against Chase as Adrian and I think he might not be serious/broody enough... So idk :o
DeleteBut thanks for stopping by!
Just read your responses as the featured blog on Alison Can Read. I agree that having people to fangirl with is the best part of blogging.

Thanks Wanda :D
DeleteI thought Jemima West was wasted on the City of Bones movie. They didn't utilize her well at all. Great Dream cast!

Kat @ Books Are Bread
Isabelle was meant to be so much bitchier! I was like WHERE IS HER BADASSERY! But yes I think if done properly, Jemima would be an amazing Celaena!

YAY someone who's read the books and loves them too (:
DeleteThank you for stopping by!!!
Awesome picks. I agree with all your choices although i'd personally swap Dorian and Chaol.
ReplyDeleteOoooooh see I considered that but I reckon Chase isn't serious enough! I can never picture him in a serious role because he's just got that cheeky grin to him. My ideal Chaol is quite broody :3
DeleteCongrats on the feature! I still need to read Throne of Glass, but I do have it on my TBR shelf. Your explanations make sense to me. New Bloglovin follower.
