About the Maas Thirteen
It all started with a tweet...
The Thirteen will be something you come across in Heir of Fire if you haven’t read it yet. I fell in love with the concept and was Tweeting about it one day to Sarah, asking if she would accept me as one of her Thirteen, when Judith, Alexa and a few other Throne of Glass fans started fangirling along… And ta-da the Maas Thirteen was born! Alexa, Rachel, Katie, Judith and I decided to put together this tour along with other Throne of Glass fans to show our love for the series! We sincerely hope you enjoy (:

Any hope Celaena has of destroying the king lies in answers to be found in Wendlyn. Sacrificing his future, Chaol, the Captain of the King’s Guard, has sent Celaena there to protect her, but her darkest demons lay in that same place. If she can overcome them, she will be Adarlan’s biggest threat – and his own toughest enemy. While Celaena learns of her true destiny, and the eyes of Erilea are on Wendlyn, a brutal and beastly force is preparing to take to the skies. Will Celaena find the strength not only to win her own battles, but to fight a war that could pit her loyalties to her own people against those she has grown to love?"

Fan Cast and Character Profiles
For my tour stop I’ll be doing a fan cast of some of the characters you’ll meet in Heir of Fire with brief character profiles – no spoilers I promise! I tried to find actors/actresses that not only fit the physical descriptions from the book, but more importantly, embodied their personalities based on roles I’ve seen them play.
The left image is Photoshopped to enhance hair and/or eye colour to match the book's description.
Main Cast
If you’ve been following my blog a long time, you may or may not remember I did a fancast of the main characters in Throne of Glass sometime last year. Either way, here it is again and I stand by my original choices!
Celaena Sardothien – Jemima West
Celaena’s physical appearance is described as being beautiful. She’s got golden hair with turquoise eyes ringed with gold. She’s headstrong, snarky, intelligent and quick with a blade.
I thought Jemima West would play Celaena perfectly. She’s so pretty and looks really sweet, but for those of you that have seen her in City of Bones, you know she can play the assassin well. As Izzy, she did an amazing job as the beautiful Shadowhunter and I loved her sarcasm and haughtiness.
Chaol Westfall – Sean O’Pry
With dark brown hair and amber (his eye colour occasionally shifts) eyes, the Captain of the Guard is handsome in an understated manner and slightly rugged. He’s muscular but lean and is very familiar with swordplay. He may seem closed off but we all know what he’s like underneath. Honourable, loyal and so sweet, Chaol is my ultimate book boyfriend.
Alright so Sean O’Pry isn’t an actor but my gosh tell me that he doesn’t look like Chaol? He’s so handsome! And that strong jaw really perfects the image.
Dorian Havilliard – Chace Crawford
Prince Dorian Havilliard, with his stunningly good looks is a bit of a playboy. The black hair that sets off those baby blues really grabs the attention of the ladies (if being a prince didn’t already). Preferring books over fighting, I’ve always pictured Dorian as cheerful with a mischievous smile. He’s genuine and kind, and just so likeable.
Chace Crawford you guys. His smile! He’s always smiling and that smile is so contagious and we know he can play the sweet guy (Nate Archibald <3) so yes I’ve always pictured Chace as Dorian.
New Heir of Fire Characters
Rowan Whitethorn – Henry Cavill
A Fae with pale hair and green eyes, Rowan is tan and broad-shouldered. He doesn’t speak much, is an amazing fighter and very loyal. A lot of the time he comes off as harsh as he really pushes Celaena to her limits but he sees her potential. There’s a darkness to him but I think he’s a good person underneath, just hardened by his life.
Henry Cavill does not have pale hair nor does he have green eyes (does he? I can’t tell) buuuut he is tan and broad-shouldered and when I was reading the book I actually pictured Henry Cavill (physical appearance from his Tudor days) as Rowan. Then I realised Rowan has silver hair and I was trying to find someone with pale hair but no one could pull off Rowan like Henry in my mind. And you know what? Bleach will fix the hair colour problem. Henry is an amazing actor that can pull off any role so why not Rowan?
Aedion Ashryver – Alex Pettyfer
Cousin to Aelin Ashryver Galathynius the lost Queen of Terrasen, Aedion is branded a traitor by the people of Terrasen. He works for the King of Adarlan by controlling the lands to the north of Adarlan (where Terrasen used to be). Loud, obnoxious and a bit uncouth, he doesn’t set a good first impression. My love for Aedion knows no bounds. I just want to cry thinking about this golden haired boy who shares the same features as his cousin.
Me thinks Alex Pettyfer would play this warrior very well! Alex looks good in a fight… Well he looks good period but yes everything about him fits in my head.
Manon Blackbeak – Eva Green
Dis qurl is BADASS yo. Manon is so cool and there is this sense of honour I really admire about her. She’s strong, has a take-no-shit attitude and isn’t afraid to give people what they deserve. And as a Blackbeak witch, she is ruthless. Pale hair, gold eyes, iron teeth and iron nails, this is one red-cloaked witch you don’t want to mess with.
EVA GREEN. I saw her and she just clicked as Manon for me. Eva is beautiful and fierce which is how I see Manon. She’d play the part perfectly.
Heir of Fire Playlist - Ash & Fire
And as a bonus here's my Heir of Fire playlist. comprised of songs that I think embodied the story and my feelings regarding the book.

ReplyDeleteI love high fantasy! Celaena is an awesome protagonist because she's so badass.
ReplyDeleteI would love to read Heir of Fire so so much!! I'm really excited for it and owning the whole set?? Ohhh ALL MY DREAMS COME TRUE! XD
ReplyDeleteSuch a great series. I have to wait until September 11 to read HoF and that's so far away!
ReplyDeleteUM, I LOVE YOUR FANCAST. I absolutely loveeeee Henry Cavill and now that you've mentioned Chace Crawford, he totally does have the charm for Dorian. And good call on Jemima West as Celaena! I saw City of Bones (which I hated) but Jemima was great as Izzy. Eva Green as Manon is another good one too.. gosh, I just love all your picks! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you're already aware of how 100% behind your fan cast I am! I think these people you've chosen are PERFECT for the roles, should they ever have the opportunity to create the Throne of Glass film. I'm particularly enamored with all 4 boys... Oh, who am I kidding? I'm OBSESSED with the entire fan casting you've done.
ReplyDelete#MaasThirteen forever! <3
I love the Throne of Glass series, it's EPIC!!!!! And I'd love to own all the books :) Thanks for the giveaway! And I totally love the casting, especially for Aedion and Manon :)
ReplyDeleteI think my first comment got lost. ANYWAY, I love your fancast!! Chaol is perfect and Chace Crawford as Dorian totally fits! I love the other boys too! hahaha, i just love all the boys...
ReplyDeleteI've heard nothing but amazing things about the Throne of Glass series. Plus, ASSASSINS plus fantasy. Who can resist that?
ReplyDeleteI am such a huge fan of fantasy novels!!! I've loved everything so far!! Cannot wait to finish the series.
ReplyDeleteOh my god, I was definitely picturing Eva Green as Manon without realising. It's like my brain just exploded. YES to Henry Cavill, even though I've been picturing Dustin Clare/Gannicus as Rowan. And also as Aedion, because why not. GANNICUS EVERYWHERE.
ReplyDeleteUhmm, helloooo, if I wasn't already fan of Chaol I'd definitely swoon for him now ;) I haven't read the information about the other characters, because I want to know as little as possible about them.
ReplyDeleteYes!!! OMG this is amazing!!! I can't wait to see what everybody else does and now I feel like my post sucks in comparison to yours! Amazing stop!!
ReplyDeleteEee! That is an awesome cast. You have great taste, and I can actually see these guys playing Sarah's epic characters! The THRONE OF GLASS series is amazing, because it's fantasy, of course, and because Sarah is an amazing writer.
ReplyDeleteI'm just starting to get into fantasy and I've heard SO much about this series. I have to read it.
ReplyDeleteI ABSOLUTELY LOVE THRONE OF GLASS. I still haven't finished Crown of Midnight yet as I'm waiting for Heir of Fire to be released since I've heard it leaves at a cliffhanger. Team Chaol!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, so I read Throne of Glass and was a bit disappointed BUT THEN I READ CROWN OF MIDNIGHT AND HOLY TERRASEN IT WAS AMAZING. I can't wait to read The Assassin's Blade. And then Heir of Fire. Plus, all the names in the series are absolutely amazing. It's so cool that you're one of the Thirteen, what a great gig :D both the covers of Heir of Fire are so lovely.
ReplyDeleteOh, and thanks for the giveaway :D
I have not read this series yet but I've heard it is epic! So many of my friends have read it and are always recommending it to me, but I just haven't gotten a copy of the first book. I am so excited to read it though!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway! :)
Everything I have heard about this series has made me more and more interested to read it - to the point where I now think I absolutely have to! I'd love to read more YA fantasy, and with the sound of a kick-but female protagonist I can't wait to finally understand what all the hype is about :)
ReplyDeleteDespite having read this series...what makes me want to read it over and over again is the fact that it's a fantasy novel that I can just sink my teeth straight into....Sarah is a wizard and her magic is words, and boy oh boy can she write! It's one my fave series ever.
ReplyDeleteOMG. EVA GREEN IS PERFECT!! I'm reading HoF now, and I keep imagining her looking like Eva Green! Love the other choices as well, not sure about Chaol though, but that's just a personal thing. I don't think I've found someone I agree on who looks like how he does in my head. hahaha <3 Chaol! Can't wait for my post, and to put the new giveaway up as well! Everyone is going to LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteWhy didn't I ever think of Jemima West?? *facepalm* Of course! Great actor picks! And omg I love Eva Green! :D *squeals* So happy there's a Aussie giveaway!
ReplyDelete–B
OMG I LOVE YOUR CAST!!! You NAILED it!!! I am totally going to picture these people when I am reading this now and Chaol and Rowan just became so much sweeter in my eyes! Really great job!! :)
ReplyDeleteYay Maas Thirteen!!!
Nicole @ The Quiet Concert
PS: I apologize if this comment posts twice but I have no idea where my first one went!
I have read Throne of Glass and absolutely loved it. I have heard that it gets even better. I can't wait to continue on with the series!
ReplyDeleteOMG I'm a total idiot. I can't read, apparently. Or erase my entries and I'm in the US.
ReplyDeleteSorry!
I have read Throne of Glass and Crown of Midnight but I can't wait to read Heir of Fire and The Assassin's Blade!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read this series but it's part of my Must-Read list. I really, really want to read it! My blogger friends love it so much.
ReplyDeleteI just started getting into fantasy & all my bloggy friends are obsessed with this series...I had to get to know Chaol. Rawr! ~daphne
ReplyDeleteOMG JEMIMA AS CELAENA HELL YES!
ReplyDeleteJemima looks prefect but her voice is so gruff I cannot imagine her properly in that role. Same as Chace... Chaol looks awesome though!
ReplyDeleteAs for Celaena, I'd pick Katheryn Winnick. She already looks totally badass in Vikings, she'd be an awesome Celaena.
I could totally see Jemima West as Celaena (especially after playing such a kick-ass Isabelle in TMI)!
ReplyDeleteI already read Throne of Glass and Crown of Midnight and ahhhhhh I can't wait to read Heir of Fire! My Chaol!!
ReplyDeleteOh good grief, this giveaway is HUGE! It's been ages since I read Throne of Glass, and at the time, I just wasn't in the right frame of mind and didn't appreciate is as much as I normally would have. Where have I seen the actor that should be cast as Dorian, Gossip Girl? Awesome giveaway Jaz, still have book one on my Kindle, might break it out again soon.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to read this series because of several reasons;
ReplyDelete- The heroine is an assassin and, who doesn't love a strong protagonist?
- The story line of the first book sounds intriguing and action-packed. It also includes romance which...for me, is always nice to read about ;) ;)
- There are a lot of good reviews about it, and a lot of my friends recommend reading the series.
- I'm in need of a good book - especially one that I won't have to wait an eternity for the sequel, let alone the third book :)
- I like all the covers :3
Great cast btw :)
Thanks for this awesome giveaway! :D x
Girl, YES TO ALL OF THIS. I love your fan cast, its just so perfect. Also, so great to know how this Maas Thirteen actually began! I was rather confused at what it was at first, but now I see. So awesome of you to think of this. :D
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway, Jaz <33
'Cause I just recently finished Throne of Glass and I'm sooo in love with that book, I just have to continue to see what happens next. And 'cause Chaol for obvious reasons. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for an amazing giveaway! :)
